THRIKKUR ROCK CAVE TEMPLE :
The Thrikkur rock cave temple is a very little known temple located about 10 km from Thrissur, near the Manali river. It is a very beautiful and ancient temple, however, very little is known about it and we were unable to find any literature on it at all. It is a Shaiva temple and it contains a 6-foot natural stone Lingam inside it. There are supposedly 10 cave temples which exist in Kerala. The Trikkur temple is one of the largest and is dated prior to the 8th century A.D. Architecturally, it belongs to the earliest phase of stylistic development, the rock cave temples, and it follows in the vein of ancient Buddhist cave temples, thought either to have been one in the past, or at least heavily influenced by them. Its though that it may also be a continuation of similar works in Tamil Nadu under the Pandyas
